Lisa Marie Presley’s Sudden Death: Destroyed by Grief, Opioid Addiction, and Problems with Debts?
It’s no secret that Lisa Marie Presley suffered a life of turmoil. Losing her father, Elvis Presley, at the age of nine kicked off the singer’s chaotic life.
Lisa Marie stated in her memoir that “life pushed her in the direction” of opioid addiction, even after her father passed away from an addiction to prescription drugs and her losing ex-husband, Michael Jackson to a drug-related complication.
Grief also took its toll on Lisa Marie after the death of her son, Benjamin Keough in 2020, who died from suicide. She never got over the loss and penned an essay in PEOPLE for “National Grief Awareness Day” back in August.
After inheriting her father’s estate in 1993 when she turned 25, Lisa Marie had major debts from divorce, and received $4,361 per month from her father’s estate, which she sold 85 percent of in 2005, retaining only 15 percent. She also received $100,000 in dividends and investments but it only covered her debt.
