Hats Off: Community Rallies For Driver Desperate To See Terminally Ill Mother
Jeff & Aimee are tipping their hats to a community that rallied behind a driver!
Bus driver Aaron Wylie from Halifax, Canada, was in desperate need to see his terminally ill mother. Aaron’s mom Sandra suffers from liver disease and doctors only gave her months to live, according to GNN.
Aaron wanted to do everything to see his mom, however, COVID-19 travel restrictions, work and financial issues prevented Aaron from doing so. Feeling helpless, Aaron decided to put out an ad on Canada’s popular classified website Kijiji.
His classified ad was asking people for a job to the city where his parents live, which is four hours away. Aaron’s Class 1 Driver’s license allows him to travel to restricted areas as long as it’s part of work.
The ad ended up reaching a huge online community giving help to Aaron. People offered money, work and liver donation to Aaron.
It got so overwhelming that Aaron had to turn off his phone because so many people were reaching out.
“It’s been an overwhelming response and an emotional one,” Wylie said in an interview with CBC News. “I was just blown away. These are people I don’t even know.”
Aaron has taken a job and is currently waiting to get clearance to travel!
