The legendary Pioneer Saloon has been open since 1913 and it isn’t slowing down.
They have live music at the covered outside part of the bar Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for your entertainment. But you may be asking, how the heck to I get there??
It is technically in Goodsprings, Nevada. You can get through some backroads from Pahrump (which is the way Jeff and his neighbors took). You can also reach it off of the 15. Just take the exit west at Jean, it’s Goodsprings Rd, and head until you hit Pioneer Saloon. It may be a bit of a hike for people in the Centennial or North Las Vegas area but it is definitely worth the drive. Jeff lives in Mountains Edge so it’s a bit easier for him!
Goodsprings was named after Joseph Good, who settled the area in the late 1800’s in hopes of benefiting from the area’s growth from mining, according to their website. It is the oldest operating bar in the Las Vegas, southern Nevada area.
There are actually REAL BULLET HOLES in the walls of the Pioneer Saloon. They also have a story to tell.
Many believe 3 bullet holes in one of the walls were from the fatal shooting of Paul Coski, who was caught cheating in a 1915 poker game.
According to their website, all are welcome to come join in the fun!
All ages are welcome in the outdoor seating and dining room. Although only 21 and over are allowed in the main saloon. (Friendly, well behaved) dogs are also allowed in designated outdoor seating areas. Certain events may be age restricted.
In fact, meet their new owner!!
It was an all day affair! Jeff got a burger while listening to an amazing country cover band. They played some games and even found his buddy’s name on the wall for their 100th anniversary dedication.
