Hats Off: Virginia Girl Scout Troops Deliver Cookies Using Drones
Jeff & Aimee are tipping their hats to a Virginian Girl Scout Troop!
Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline teamed up with Wing, a subsidiary of Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc., to start delivering its delicious Girl Scout Cookies using drones.
“Even with loosening COVID restrictions, the traditional method of selling cookies outside of grocery stores or shops is difficult this year, and sales are down about 50% from prior years,” said Wing global communications lead Lia Reich, in an interview with USA TODAY. “It was a natural fit to partner with the Girl Scouts to help out in this situation.”
Wing has committed to deliver at least 3,000 boxes. Orders are placed through the Wing app or its website until the end of May.
