Walmart Launches New Black Friday Experience For This Year
The longstanding tradition of Black Friday shopping at Walmart is ending this year, however, it’s starting a new tradition.
Walmart first announced that its stores along with Sam’s Club locations will be closed on Thanksgiving in July, according to Business Insider. To replace that longstanding tradition, Walmart announced a new early Black Friday experience with an enhanced focus on online sales.
“We know this has been a trying year, and our associates have stepped up. We hope they will enjoy a special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved ones,” said John Furner, the president and CEO of Walmart US, in a statement. “We are certainly thankful to our people for all of their efforts.”
The new Black Friday experience will offer its bargain deals early, feature contactless paying, reduced in-store shopping times and socially distant guideline shopping.
To keep up with the increase of digital sales, Walmart is hiring 20,000 seasonal associates to meet demands.
