Hats Off: Teen Buys Repossessed Storage Units To Return The Items To Its Former Owners
Jeff & Aimee are tipping their hats to a teen with a big heart!
Shane Jones from Wakefield, R.I., has been buying repossessed storage units in hopes to sell some of the items for quick cash, according to The Washington Post.
However, the 16-year-old changed his mind about selling people’s items for profit.
“The couple who rented the locker had passed away, but there was a phone number for their brother-in-law, and he was happy to come out and get everything,” said Wakefield in an interview with The Washington Post. “He said there were a lot of family heirlooms that could have been lost.”
Jones is now purchasing storage units with plans to return the items to the previous owners. His first storage unit was purchased for $100 and belonged to someone in prison.
With the help of his parents, Jones was able to track down the person’s mother and return the belongings.
“This guy was in prison, and his storage unit was auctioned off because he couldn’t afford to pay for it. This was probably everything he had left,” continued Wakefield.
