Hats Off: Teens Prevent House Fire For A 97-Year-Old Woman
Jeff & Aimee are tipping their Hats to a group of heroic teens.
Sacha Hewson, Mark Meyer, Izzy Meade, Matt Pritchard, and Elliott Brown were visiting a relative in Hampshire & Isle of Wight, United Kingdom, when the group noticed smoke coming out of a home.
“We were walking back from the beach and walked past the lady’s house and we noticed there was smoke filtering of the front door. We went into her house and started calling out for anyone inside to make them aware of what was happening,” said Sascha Hewson in an interview with Island Echo.
Thankfully, once inside the home they found the 97-year-old homeowner and immediately alerted the elderly woman.
“We found the lady, who is very hard of hearing, and she was unaware of the fire alarm and the smoke and didn’t know what was happening,” said Sascha Hewson in an interview with Island Echo.
The source of the fire came from the microwave located in the kitchen. After realizing the consequences of putting water on an electrical fire Mark Meyer unplugged the microwave and extinguished it with a nearby tea kettle.
Once first responders arrived they transported the elderly woman to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Thanks to these teens the fire prevented any further damages to the home!
