Hats Off: Teen Gathers 30,000 Pairs Of Shoes For The Homeless
Jeff and Aimee are tipping their Hats Off to a Southern California teen!
Lindsay Sobel witnessed the need to help Los Angeles’ homeless firsthand so she decided to help those living on the street.
The 17-year-old gathered and donated over 30,000 pairs of shoes for Southern California homeless, according to A Might Girl.
“I noticed a lot of them were in really awful living conditions, no way any person should have to live. On top of that, I noticed a lot of them did not even have shoes on,” said Sobel in an interview with A Might Girl. “At 12 years old, I was like, ‘Wow, people don’t have shoes?’”
So, when going into her Bat Mitzvah, she decided to create the Shoes for Souls charity in 2016 to give back to the homeless!
“I want to try to give the best experience to all the people. I don’t want to give them a pair of shoes that are beaten down or worn down. I don’t want them to think that’s their self-worth,” said Sobel.
