Hats Off: Two Ohio Colleges Raise $34K For Restaurant Workers In Tipping War
Jeff & Aimee are giving a Hats Off to two colleges in Ohio!
A Xavier College alum started a tipping battle with the University of Cincinnati. The two colleges are huge sports rivals so both colleges didn’t spare any expense for restaurant workers impacted by the pandemic.
The first tip went to Xavier College when an alumni left a $1,000 tip on a $54 bill at Zip’s Café.
Then, another alum from the University of Cincinnati beat it by leaving a $1,001 tip.
The two rivals went at it in an all-out “Tipping Bowl” that raised $34K for Cinncinati restaurant workers, according to CNN.
“Xavier and UC happen to be three miles apart which makes it one of the closest rivalries in college sports,” Zip’s Café owner Mike Burke told CNN. “I think the proximity has definitely helped drive the traction on this very generous, feel good movement.”
