Hats Off: First Pit Bull Gets Adopted In Denver After 30-Year Adoption Ban Ends
Here at Jeff & Aimee in the Morning, we LOVE all animals! Today, we’re giving a Hats Off to a pit bull in Denver.
A pitt bull named Gumdrop has been adopted in Denver, Colorado after a 30-year adoption ban ended on dogs who “have the majority appearance of a pit bull.”
The three-year-old pup was adopted by a loving family with a toddler. He has since been renamed “Odin.”
“Odin is a fun-loving, sweet and energetic boy who loves playing with toys,” said the woman who adopted him.
The pit bull ban was enacted in 1989 but was repealed by 65 percent of voters. Now, pet owners must have their pit bull microchipped, vaccinated and comply with grant requirements to adopt a pit bull.
Denverites voted to repeal the city’s 30-year-old ban on pit bulls. Passing the measure will allow the city to grant a provisional permit to pit bull owners as long as the owner microchips the animal & complies with add'l requirements set by @DASanimals: https://t.co/LRw2tSZwG7 pic.twitter.com/zyH8rd2KUZ
