VIDEO: Man Tips Waffle House Server $1,000 After Losing Fantasy Football Bet
Coming in last place in any sport doesn’t feel good at all. However, something positive came out of one man coming in last place.
Michael Carsley and his friends set up a fantasy football league with the agreement that anyone coming in last place would have to spend 24 hours inside a Waffle House.
Unfortunately, Carsley would be that person to spend 24 hours inside the Waffle House. For every waffle that Carsley ate one hour would get taken away. Meaning, Carsley would have to eat over 20 waffles in one sitting to get out of the bet quickly.
Once it came down to pay his dues, Carsley’s friends Mike Reich and Brett Hessler joined in. Things decided to take a bright turn when Carlsey decided to Facebook live stream the event and ask for donations for servers who struggled during the Covid-19 pandemic.
That Sunday morning, Waffle House server Mosammat Shumi was the one taking care of Carsley and his fantasy football league “degenerates.”
“He told me, ‘I have to eat 20 waffles.’ And I said, ‘Are you sure?'” said Shumi in a CNN interview.
At first, Carlsey’s family and friends were the ones watching his Facebook live stream. Eventually, Venmo alerts kept popping up notifying that someone donated to Carlsey’s cause.
“It was growing exponentially. First it was $60, then $150, then $200, close to $300,” said Carsley. After six miserable hours inside the Waffle House Carsley raised $1,040 for server Shumi.
The Waffle House server of eleven years could not believe the generous donation!
