Hats Off: Newly Wed Couples Uses Catering Deposit To Feed Those In Need A Thanksgiving Dinner
Jeff & Aimee in the Morning is giving a huge Hats Off to a couple who decided to be a light in a dark situation!
Emily Bugg and Billy Lewis planned on getting married in front of 150 of their close friends and family. However, 2020 happened so the two decided to tie the knot at Chicago’s city hall in October, according to The Washington Post.
With the newlyweds having to change their plans they decided to use their catering deposit to feed Thanksgiving dinner to people with severe mental illness.
“This just seemed like a good way to make the best of a bad situation,” said Bugg.
She is an outreach worker at Threshold, whose sole mission is to help people with mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other conditions.
Days leading up to Thanksgiving, recipients got a delicious boxed Thanksgiving dinner full of turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, green beans and more. Big Delicious Planet took care of the catering.
However, Bugg and Lewis didn’t just stop at helping those in need for Thanksgiving, they also used their venue reception deposit for charity.
The venue that was going to host the wedding agreed to use the deposit towards an event for the Epilepsy Foundation.
Bugg has a connection to the Epilepsy Foundation, so the two thought it was fitting to help its cause!
Without a doubt, these two did something amazing out of a dark situation.
