With thousands of people stuck at home, one thing that people are absolutely needing is a fresh-smelling home. Scented candle sales went up 130% mid-March, according to Vogue, which was right at the beginning of quarantine. Can we really blame people for wanting a fresh smell to compliment a clean house?
Respecting social distancing guidelines makes it impossible to enjoy a vacation, and rightfully so! One thing people are doing to get around it is to buy an RV. It allows people to enjoy a vacation without having to stay in hotels and risk exposure. RV sales went up 170%, according to the RV Industry Association.
Let’s face it, you’re not alone if you put on a couple of pounds during quarantine. 76% of Americans gained up to 16 pounds, according to Fox News. With packing on pounds people are reaching in their wallets to buy up comfy sweatpants. Sales went up 80%, according to The New York Times.
Americans really loved to exercise their second amendment right during the pandemic! Overall background checks for firearms were up 69% compared to last year, according to NPR. Background checks for handguns were up 80% as well! Although the government doesn’t track gun sales it does track background checks required to purchase a gun, according to NPR.
The DIY project has now reached the kitchen! With bread and other basic groceries becoming hard to come by, people are baking their own bread. Yeast sales were up 647% in March compared to last year, according to Business Insider. The ramp-up in sales left stores empty leaving Americans flocking online to get it.
