Teen Asks Obama For A Virtual Commencement Speech For Graduating Students And He Said Yes!
What started out as a simple Tweet now has the attention of Barack and Michelle Obama!
Like the rest of the country, COVID-19 has affected so many teens graduating this year. So, teenager Lincoln Tweeted out to Barack Obama with one simple request.
“Hi @BarackObama! Like most high school/college seniors, I’m saddened by the loss of milestone events, prom & graduation,” said Lincoln, via Twitter. “In an unprecedented time, it would give us great comfort to hear your voice. We ask you to consider giving a national commencement speech to the class of 2020.”
After seeing Lincoln’s request Barack Obama had the best response ever!
“I’ve always loved joining commencements––the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice,” said Obama, via Twitter. “Even if we can’t get together in person this year, Michelle and I are excited to celebrate the nationwide Class of 2020 and recognize this milestone with you and your loved ones.”
The YouTube special entitled “Dear Class of 2020,” takes place June 6th at 3PM ET. It will also have some celebs and empowering figures appearing throughout the special.
Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist Malala Yousafzai and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will make an appearance on the special.
