Highest Paying Jobs In Las Vegas That Don’t Require College Degrees
Finding jobs in Las Vegas is an interesting process. If you have ever job searched in the valley then you know it’s a peculiar experience.
There was a time where going to college meant success. But, things have changed now, and the keys to success are far more convoluted than simply going to school. Almost mirroring the “American dream,” Las Vegas is a city that allows the opportunity for any person to find some sort of success — whether you do it lucratively or not.
And this goes for attending a four-year university. Sure. Going to a four-year university provides you with amazing opportunities, the ability to expand your mind and everlasting opportunities. But, it doesn’t mean that you will 100% be successful in your career endeavors. Hard work, grit and determination are just as important.
Stacker created a list of the highest-paying jobs in Las Vegas that do not require a degree. Stacker used data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook to see which jobs paid the highest.
According to the data, the highest paying job that doesn’t require a college degree is a first-line supervisor of police and detectives. The average income in Las Vegas for first-line supervisors of police and detectives is $115,440.
Las Vegas has the 47th-highest pay for first-line supervisors in the U.S. San Jose, San Diego and Santa Maria-Santa Barbara were other cities that had the highest-paid first-line supervisors for police and detectives.
Stacker considered jobs in Las Vegas that still required high school diplomas, some college education (without a degree conferred) or some sort of post-secondary degree. Jobs that had no formal education requirements were considered, too.
Other positions that made the list include commercial pilots, power distributors and dispatchers, electrical and electronics repairers, crane and tower operators and gambling managers. These positions can make individuals anywhere up to a six-figure salary. But once again, we want to iterate that just because these jobs do not require degrees, it doesn’t mean they’re easy jobs in the slightest.
