Chocolate CakeLife by Chocolate!

We’ve all heard of the dessert “Death by Chocolate.”

Well, I think it’s time that chocolate gets the respect that it’s due. It’s high time we enjoy guilt-free chocolate. I’m here to propose a new, more positive spin on the popular dessert and all things chocolate. I suggest we call it “Life by Chocolate!”

We’ve been denied!

For years we’ve been hearing about the possible health benefits of the rich, dark, milk chocolaty treat. But, I believe some secret society of melancholy mood spoilers has been hiding the truth. Like an anti-chocolate conspiracy, rallied by parents around the world.

But now, the truth can be told.

There are many scientific studies that bear the facts. Chocolate is actually good for you with many health benefits that we have been denied for too many years.

Chocolate lovers unite!

Studies prove Dark Chocolate is indeed a ‘Superfood.’

National Chocolate Day isn’t until October 28th but who wants to wait that long to celebrate this delicious “superfood”?

  • Dark Chocolate a superfood?

Dark ChocolateStudies prove that dark chocolate boosts mood, memory and immunity.

Researchers at Linda Loma University conducted studies on the benefits of consuming dark chocolate containing 70% cacao and 30% organic cane sugar. Participants in the study consumed 48 grams (roughly 1 and 1/2 ounces) of dark chocolate and the results qualify 70% cacao as a “superfood” because of its ability to boost neuroplasticity, providing both behavioral and brain health perks.

  • Chocolate for Breakfast?

More and more studies are suggesting chocolate is healthy!

Research shows that having chocolate first thing in the morning actually helps burn fat through the day.

Who knew, 100 grams of chocolate for breakfast, even in the form of delicious chocolaty cereal, could be good for you?

Besides kick-starting your metabolism, it also reduces blood glucose levels, a key measure for people at risk from diabetes.

    Study details here.

  • Chocolate Instead of High Blood Pressure Meds?

Blood Pressure MedicationsThere looks to be something to the benefits of chocolate as it relates to high blood pressure.

I’m sure the big pharmaceutical companies wouldn’t want you to know this astonishing information.

Recent studies continue to show that cocoa flavanols can lower blood pressure and arterial stiffness just like the best blood pressure medications.

Whereas, further testing would be merited, early indications are promising.  Read the findings here.

To me the decision is easy.

Given the choice, I’d much rather enjoy some delicious chocolate over a handful of pills.

However, any thoughts of using cocoa for lowering blood pressure should be discussed with your doctor first.

  • Chocolate Before Bed?

Assorted ChocolatesIt’s more than just a nighttime snack.

100 grams of chocolate before bed helps you relax and even helps kick start your metabolism when you wake up the next day so you can start your day with a little pep in your step.

Disclaimer: As tempting as it may be to over indulge, for best results, please consume chocolate in moderation.
