Despite the criticism, the president of the Macon Bacon expressed surprise at the backlash, which even manifested on billboards across the city. He emphasized that the team does not consider themselves a glorification of an unhealthy lifestyle. The president also pointed out that while they do serve generous portions of bacon at the stadium, they also provide plant-based options for those with different dietary preferences. As for the team name, he made it clear that a change is out of the question, stating firmly, “[We] will not consider a name change. Ever.”
