Police Arrest Man For Smoking Meth At Harry Reid International Airport
Transporting liquids are hard enough when it comes to getting through TSA, so drugs are usually a little harder to sneak through. But one man not only smuggled meth into the airport, he also smoked it right inside of the terminal.
Channel 8 News Now reports Las Vegas Metro Police Department arrested a man for allegedly smoking meth inside of the airport on Monday.
According to the article, the accused suspect, Stephen Laster was allegedly smoking out of “a meth pipe in the dining area of a restaurant in Terminal 1, documents said.”
This isn’t Laster’s first run in with law enforcement. 8 News Now reports that Laster was placed on probation after pleading guilty to a battery with a deadly weapon charge. He violated his probation a few months later.
There have been a few cases of meth at airports. However, most of these incidents have to do with the smuggling and trafficking of the drug across state or national borders. These stories, most often, don’t actually have to do with individuals partaking with the drug inside of the terminal.
For example, last year, police officers arrested a man for trying to transport meth through Los Angeles International Airport.
In February 2022, 22-year-old Kiyonte Levell Sowell was caught trying to transport five pounds of methamphetamines to Iowa from California.
He was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison as a result of this, according to the United States Attorney’s Office in Iowa.
In late February, DEA agents arrested Roy Payne Jr. for trying to transport overs aeven pounds of methamphetamine. He will face federal, felony charges for this incident. Methamphetamine is classified as a Schedule II stimulant under the Controlled Substances Act.
