Lake Las Vegas Residents Push Back Against New Development
Lake Las Vegas hits back!
A neighborhood meeting in Lake Las Vegas was forced to reschedule after the developer of a new real estate property underestimated the number of people who would show up.
The Raintree Investment Corporation invited residents to the Lake Las Vegas Sports Club to discuss the development of a number of residential homes off the Lake Las Vegas Parkway. The meeting was intended to provide locals with more information about the project, but they were unprepared for the amount of people who showed up. The crowd overflowed, making it difficult for participants to hear the developer speak. Whoops!
Still, a number of residents raised concerns about how the development would impact the community.
Larry Wong, who lives in Monte Lucca (in Lake Las Vegas) near the area of the proposed project, hoped to get the specifics about the project.
“It’s my understanding they’ll be townhouses as opposed to single-family homes which we prefer because you know when we bought we assumed everything was going to be single-family homes in our immediate area,” Wong said to Fox 5.
Other residents had similar questions regarding the amount of units, problems that may arise due to the development, and how it would affect the topography of the community.
Some brought up concerns about the impact on local wildlife. Bighorn sheep reside on the property the corporation is attempting to develop, according to local residents, and they wondered whether the developers had taken into account the effects on the environment the project could have. Concerns were also raised about whether any environmental studies had been done.
In the end, the meeting only lasted 20 minutes, but we’re looking forward to hearing more details about the new schedule AND the project soon.
