A New Country Dance Hall Might Be Coming To The Durango Resort
It has been less than a year since the Durango Resort opened its doors to the public. The beautiful property that resides in the southwest part of the valley is already planning to expand. The exciting news was shared during a recent second-quarter earnings call by executives from Station Casino’s parent company, Red Rock Resorts.
According to a report by News 3 (KSNV – Las Vegas) the expansion plans were approved by Clark County officials earlier this month. In their report, Stephen Cootey, the company’s executive VP, provided some details about the upcoming expansion. Cootey says that the resort plans to add 25 thousand square feet of new casino space. He also mentions that it’ll include a new high-limit slot area, a new bar, and they also plan to bring 230 extra slot machines to the property floor.
The actual casino isn’t the only thing getting bigger. Cootey also says that the parking situation will be affected by the expansion too. Cootey says a new parking garage is part of the expansion plans and they’ll be adding nearly 2,000 new parking spots.
Could A New Country Dance Hall Be Part Of The Durango Resort Expansion Plans?
The folks at 8 News Now (KLAS – Las Vegas) also covered the story, and their reporting mentioned something exciting for country music fans in the valley! They have quotes from Scott Kreeger, president of Red Rock Resorts. Kreeger mentions some of the possible options for the upcoming expansion, but it all comes down to which side of the property gets the expansion. If it’s in the north, it’ll be entertainment-focused. However, if it’s in the south, it’ll be focused on business.
He says, “Things like movie theaters, things like a potentially country-western dance hall, these types of things tend to drive weekend visitation,” Kreeger continues, speaking on how the other side of the property will be more focused on providing things that drive mid-week visitation to the property. “… Things like a resort hotel expansion, spa, meeting space.”
Construction at Durango Resort is expected to begin later this year, as the expansion is currently in the budgeting and planning stages.
