Nevada’s New Favorite Cocktails Push Cosmopolitan From #1 Spot
Nevada’s favorite cocktails are refreshing drinks that can cool you off during the brutal Vegas heat.
For years, the Cosmopolitan reigned supreme as Nevada’s favorite cocktail. But a recent study by Coffeeness revealed the most popular cocktail in every state. In Nevada, three cocktails are tied as the state’s favorites: Aperol Spritz, Old Fashioned and Mimosas.
Considering that Aperol Spritz and Mimosas are “brunch” cocktails, it makes sense why these two cocktails made the list. Brunch parties are the “hottest” thing in Vegas right now — aside from the weather.
Old Fashioned cocktails are also the epitome of a perfect drink to sip on while hitting the tables. Vegas does not mess around with its Old Fashioned. This is a classic and timeless cocktail that can be enjoyed year-round.
Aperol Spritz: What’s In It?
Aperol is a famous botanical liquor. According to the liquor company’s website, “Aperol is an aperitivo liquid distinctive in colour and taste, with a uniqueness defined by its bright, vibrant and lively orange hue and perfectly bittersweet essence.”
If you’ve traveled to Spain and Italy in particular, Aperol Spritzs are advertised everywhere. And it looks like Nevada is indulging in these delicious cocktails as well.
A classic recipe for an Aperol Spritz three parts prosecco, one part Aperol, a splash of soda water and an orange slice.
Some great places in Las Vegas for an Aperol Spritz include: Eatly inside of Park MGM, Kassi Beach House inside of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas (they have Aperol Spritz on draft) and North Italia in Summerlin.
Mimosas: The Beautiful, Classic Brunch Cocktail
When you think of brunch, you can envision mimosas. This classic cocktail is usually made with one part fruit juice and one part champagne. It’s possibly one of the easiest cocktails to make, and you can customize it to your liking.
Some of our favorite local-loved places for bottomless mimosas include the famous Mimosas Gourmet, Downtown Terrace in Container Park and Borracha Mexican Cantina in Henderson.
Old Fashioned: The Quintessential Cocktail For Las Vegas
The Old Fashioned cocktail is historical and has survived decades of innovation. Yet, this cocktail recipe remains relatively the same, a homage to the perfection of this cocktail.
According to The New York Times, a classic recipe for Old Fashioned cocktails is two ounces of bourbon or rye whiskey, two dashes of Angostura bitters, simple syrup (or a sugar cube to be very traditional) and an orange twist.
If you’re looking for a delicious Old Fashioned then head on down to the Mob Museum’s Speakeasy for a delicious Old Fashioned cocktail. The Laundry Room on Fremont Street also has great Old Fashioned cocktails. The Vesper Bar inside of the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas also offers a killer selection of whiskey, bourbon and more.
