Superior Grocers Adds In-House Sushi, Boba Additions Unique To Las Vegas Location
According to a video posted by @HookedLV (both on Instagram and TikTok), this Superior location has a few additions that are not in the other California locations.
There is a sushi station — yes a sushi station. Now you may be thinking, “Why does a Mexican store have sushi?” Well, there are many states in Mexico that have actually incorporated traditional sushi and created a “Mexican-sushi” fusion style of the cuisine. For example, a popular type of sushi in Mexico is Sinaloan sushi.
According to a VICE story about the origins of Mexican sushi, “It all started when a customer at a sushi restaurant in Sinaloa asked the chef for ‘something different’ one day.” That led the sushi chef to procure a sizzling piece of carne asada from the taqueria across the street and create a sushi roll with it. Thus, Mexican sushi was born.”
At Superior, you can get flavor-packed rolls that are smeared in cream cheese, spicy mayo and other colorful toppings. It’s made fresh daily, and the store’s sushi is the perfect snack for a post-shopping trip!
Along with sushi, you can even add boba to traditional agua frescas! Elevate your regular horchata by adding some boba for about a $1.
Fresh Tamales, Pan Dulce And Bargain Hotdogs At Superior Grocers
Along with the fusion options such as sushi and boba, there is a panaderia, which is essentially a bakery. You can pick up some fresh conchas or other sweet concoctions. Everything is made in-house, which is something that Superior prides itself on.
There’s also a tamale cart in the actual store. In warmed containers, you can choose from pineapple and strawberry tamales to pork and so much more. It’s truly a delicious experience.
Another great aspect of the store is the bargain deals such as the famous hotdog that costs $1.99. You can also download the app, which constantly has coupons and other saving tools.
This is another exciting business that’s calling Las Vegas home while helping to grow our local economy and provide jobs. Be sure to check out the new Superior Grocers, and let us know how you like it!
