Las Vegas Police Arrest 25 People For ‘Sex Offenses, Violent Crimes’
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department picked up a swath of 25 people with alleged connections to “a variety of sex offenses and violent crimes,” according to the police department’s X (formerly Twitter) account.
Police arrested 24 men and one woman. The Las Vegas Review-Journal obtained Justice Court records and said in the article that these individuals were arrested “on suspicion of crimes such as battery/domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse of an older person and failure to register as a sex offender.”
According to the police department, this crime sweep is called Operation Heat Wave, and it was held from Aug. 14 – Sept. 8, 2023. Operation Heat Wave was a joint effort between the LVMPD Sex Offender Apprehension Team and the U.S. Marshals Service Nevada Violent Offender Task Force, the release said.
The point of these operations seek to “locate and apprehend individuals who have committed violent crimes within out community,” police said on X.

Last April, police arrested 15 men during a previous operation that targeted sex predators, according to a previous article we published. It was also a joint operation with multiple law enforcement agencies from the ICAC Task Force, the FBI and the agency’s Child Exploitation Task Force, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Henderson Police Department, the Homeland Security Investigations, the US Air Force Office of Special Investigation, the Nevada Attorney General and the North Las Vegas Police Department.
