Police Arrest Man, 27, Who Killed Las Vegas Tow Employee (Photo)
The towing business can be dangerous and unpredictable. And the crime committed on Tuesday once again illustrates the dangers of working in the towing industry. A Las Vegas tow incident ended up with one person dead and another arrested.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection to a homicide that happened this past week. According to a press release, the 27-year-old man’s name is Jaton Terrell Herder. Prior to the shooting taking place, Herder’s vehicle was towed and impounded .
According to police, Herder was upset about his vehicle being impounded. The situation ended with Herder becoming more upset during the interaction between him and the employee. The alleged suspect then took out a gun and shot multiple rounds at the tow company employee. The suspect fled the scene before Las Vegas Metro Police arrived, the release states. Unfortunately, the victim was transferred to UMC but died.
The LVMPD Criminal Apprehension Team eventually found Herder and transported him to Clark County Detention Center. Officials booked him for Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon, police said in the release.

The issue of tow truck drivers being the punching bag for many people’s frustrations, anger and embarrassment often leads to a violent outcome, such as this local situation. Many TV shows about the life of parking attendants, tow truck drivers, etc. have shown the true volatile nature of the job.
There have been multiple news reports about tow truck drivers being the victims of attacks, harassments and even unjustified deaths. On Jan. 6, officials charged a Pennsylvania man for trying to run over a tow truck driver who was repossessing his car. In Arizona, a man was just sentenced to 22 years in prison and was convicted for killing a tow truck driver in Phonenix.
The suspect convicted of killing a tow truck driver in Phoenix last year has recently been sentenced to spend the next 22 years in prison.
