Three to four public adoption events are held each year.
The seventeen horses up for adoption this weekend come from various areas of the West including, Nevada, Oregon, and California. All of the wild horses range from 3 – 9 years in age and have received approximately 120 days training. The majority of the available horses are Geldings with one Mare and one Yearling-Filly.
The adoption will take place at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center Facility 1721 Snyder Avenue, Carson City, Nevada 89701

Information on the Northern Nevada Correctional Center Wild Horse training program:
Over 500 inmates have participated in the NNCC inmate training program, often coming with little or no experience working with horses. The inmates give each horse approximately 120 days of training. The animals are essentially “green broke” and will need additional daily training and handling by an experienced rider when at their new home. The best homes for these animals would include intermediate or advanced riders.
