Scooter Braun Says He ‘Regrets’ the Way Taylor Swift Catalog Acquisition Was Handled
If you're a Taylor Swift fan, you know that Taylor recently rerecorded and rereleased a lot of her older music. The reason behind that was because her catalog was acquired by a man named Scooter Braun.
Scooter is now sharing his side of the story.
In a recent interview, Scooter Braun said he regrets the way he handled Taylor Swift's catalog acquisition.
He regrets an assumption he made.
Scooter said, I made the assumption that everyone, once the deal was done, was going to have a conversation with me, see my intent, see my character and say 'great, let's be in business together.'
He said he was under a strict NDA-Non-Disclosure Agreement, and was not legally allowed to discuss with any artist what was happening.
Scooter told the head of Big Machine that if any artists wanted to come back and buy into this he had to tell Scooter.
That's when Taylor released the letter she wrote that is now public.
If you could advise Scooter, what would you tell him to do?

Taylor Swift Releases ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’: Fans React
On Friday (November 12), Taylor Swift unveiled Red (Taylor’s Version), a rerecording of her acclaimed 2012 album Red, as part of her ongoing mission to regain ownership of her early music.
Taylor's version features nine “vault” tracks that were written for the original 2012 record but didn’t end up on the final product. This is Swift's second re-recorded album after Fearless, with plans to re-record all six albums she released before her masters were sold to Scooter Braun in 2019.
Following the release of Red (Taylor's Version), Swift thanked her 89 million Twitter followers: "It never would have been possible to go back & remake my previous work, uncovering lost art & forgotten gems along the way if you hadn’t emboldened me. Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours. Now we begin again. Red (my version) is out."
