A new study from WalletHub.com ranked more than 180 cities in the nation according to their “happiness.”
The study was based around life satisfaction scores, depression rates, physical and mental health, weather and more.
According to the study, location plays a role in how “bright” or “gloomy” our days are.
Key ingredients for happiness, “include a positive mental state, healthy body, strong social connections, job satisfaction and financial well-being,” the study said.
The city that came in dead last? Detroit.
Believe it or not, none of our cities in Nevada even made the top of the list But we’re still happy regardless, despite none of our cities making the “top-ten” cut. “The Bay” is iconic and has been featured in movies, TV shows and countlessly mentioned in iconic songs! San Francisco features the trolley cars, Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz, amazing food, sight-seeing and more. All of these factors help to make it the third happiest city on the list.
2) Columbia, Maryland
Located just outside of our nation’s capital, Columbia, Maryland features lake shores, everything outdoors, a bit of history and much more. Many people also say that people from Columbia are welcoming and warm, helping to make it #2 on the list of “happiest” cities!

Well, there’s a reason the city of Fremont, California is ranked as the #1 “happiest” city in America. The city is nestled in the shadows of San Francisco and has amazing scenery with tons of fun things to do.
