Lainey Wilson said she was returning to touring to make her daddy ‘proud.’
Saturday night Lainey Wilson was ‘holding on’ to the dream of being a country superstar and she was doing it all for her Daddy. She brought her ‘bell-bottom country’ to the Sandbar at the Red Rock Resort to the delight of the sold out crowd.
In late July, Lainey posted to Instagram that she was needing to cancel a couple weekend performances in Iowa due to a ‘family emergency.’ She wrote, “Please keep my family in your prayers.”
Last week she posted an update on her dad’s condition to Instagram. Her tight bond with her dad made her realize what she needed to do.
While Lainey was hanging out backstage at the Sandbar on Saturday night, her thoughts were still with her Daddy. He is still in ICU in a Texas hospital with a long road of recovery ahead.
Lainey grew up on a farm in Louisiana and she recalled a story to Forbes when she was nine years old and her dad bought her her first horse. He brought the unbroken horse to the house, saddled it up and told Lainey to get on. Lainey remembered being frightened and crying saying, “no he hadn’t been broken.”
‘Hold on, you’re going to be fine.’
Lainey told Forbes, “My dad told me ‘hold on, you’re going to be fine.’ That was a huge defining moment in my life because every time I feel like I want to give up I just hold on. Life is a crazy ride, and my daddy didn’t know it then but it is one of the biggest lessons I have ever learned to not give up on my music career- because let me tell you, you’ve got to hold on.”
The show was absolutely incredible. I’ve been a fan for a few years now and I’ve been championing Lainey Wilson to anyone that would listen. But, what I watched was magnificent, Lainey has taken her stage performance to the next level. She performed with an awe-inspiring energy and confidence that I had yet to see. Life is a crazy ride but Lainey has a tight hold on the reins.
Lainey made me proud and I’m not even her daddy.
Take a look at the gallery below to see how Lainey ‘held on’ and brought everything she had to the Sandbar stage in a triumphant 45 minute ride.
