Taylor Swift Donates $5 Million To Hurricane Relief Efforts
Taylor Swift has donated $5 million towards Hurricane relief efforts for Hurricane Helene and Milton. That’s a lot of money!
Several NFL owners made headlines earlier in the week for donating $8 million towards Hurricane relief efforts, and that $8 million was a combined sum. Now, Swift is stepping up and donating a massive $5 million. After one of the most successful tours ever with the Eras Tour, she’s now giving back in a major way.
Taylor Swift Donates Millions Towards Hurricane Relief Efforts
Hurricane Helene caused severe damage across Florida and into North Carolina and was then followed by Hurricane Milton merely days later before relief efforts could really get underway. This money is much needed and will go a long way towards repairing damaged towns and infrastructure in the areas that were badly hit.
Non-profit organization Feeding America released a statement from CEO Babineaux-Fontenot saying, “We’re incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous $5 million donation to Hurricanes Helene and Milton relief efforts. This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms. Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead. Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.”
Of course, Swift is no stranger to donating money and contributing to those in need. In December of 2023 she reportedly donated $1 million towards natural disaster relief after storms impacted Tennessee. She also reportedly gave $100,000 to the family of a 44-year-old woman killed at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade in February of this year, per Variety. She also gave money to food banks during the massive Eras Tour and Variety reports that she gave out more than $55 million in bonuses to employees working on the tour from dancers to sound techs and everywhere in between.
The Eras Tour is expected to resume after a brief hiatus later this month, including stops in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis before heading across the border into Canada.
It’s great to see someone with Taylor Swift’s popularity, power, and platform step up in such a major way during this storm. People are in need of help right now and she has the resources to assist and she’s making the choice to help–and it highlights the type of person she is. The world needs more Taylor Swifts. She’s not just a pop star who performs, makes her money, and does her own thing. Instead, she’s giving back in a major way and hopefully it will inspire others in similar situations to give back as well.
