Luke Bryan: How Nashville Has Grown
Luke Bryan has been in Nashville for almost twenty years now, and he made a big splash in the industry. He became a superstar in the 2010s, and he is still one of the genre’s biggest and most consistent stars today.
When we talked with Luke recently, he looked back to when he first arrived in the Music City, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. He told us, “When I looked at where country music was before I got to town, where I was, and where Nashville was when I got to town, Nashville was… I mean, you could just pull up to a bar and park when I got to Nashville. Yeah, you can’t do that anymore. We have grown so much.”
He added of his beloved genre, “I think the thing about country music is that it really does start in the humble beginnings of songs, and it starts with the humble beginnings of where the artists come from. It’s also how they tell their story to the country audience.”

Bryan recently announced details of his eighth studio album, Mind Of A Country Boy, which will be released on September 27. The album will have 14 tracks and will be produced by powerhouse father-son team Jeff and Jody Stevens.
After 17 years in the business, he could rest on his previous success, but he’s leaning in even more. He said, “I’ve been able to take my time and really compile songs for this album. If it’s a song that I cut two or three years ago, and I still love it, and it still sounds fresh, then I feel like it’ll stand the test of time.”
He added, “I think this album, as I’ve tried to do with all my albums, just has a little bit of everything. I do some things different vocally on this one that I’ve not done before. It’s about each song having its place and having its meaning. It’s trying not to be overly redundant with songs. I think that’s why I’ve been blessed to have a long career and what I feel like this album’s going to do.”
And bringing the music to his fans on tour is his favorite thing to do. Over his career, Luke has established a legacy of highly successful concert events like “Spring Break” concerts that gathered more than 200,000 fans on Florida beaches, to his 15 years of Farm Tour and the Mexico destination concert experience “Crash My Playa” that will celebrate its ten-year anniversary when it returns next January.
