Walker Hayes: TV Drama Coming Based On His Life
Walker Hayes was nominated for a GRAMMY for his huge hit “Fancy Like” as Best Country Song in 2021. Now, he will get a drama TV series about his life.
Deadline reports that a contemporary scripted drama series inspired by his life is headed to the small screen. The production arm of Untitled Entertainment has acquired Hayes’ life rights for the project, with Hayes set to executive produce.
Walker told the publication that he and his wife Laney “have had such a wild life and love story.” He said they “reflect all the time together” and wonder how “we got here.”
He added, “We could never have imagined a company like Untitled would want to create a scripted drama about our life. Their willingness to welcome and include us in the process has been beyond encouraging.”
The singer concluded that they are “excited and grateful” for this creative opportunity to “share us with the world.”
Hayes’s story shows his hustling for nearly 20 years, trying to make it in Nashville. Then his 2021 song “Fancy Like” went viral after he performed a TikTok dance to the song.

The drama will also look at his struggle before his success in Nashville. His story includes addiction, poverty, loss.” And, he adds, “a crisis of faith, all while being a husband to his high school sweetheart and a father to a growing brood of children.” The series is expected to center on a Walker-type aspiring musician, his marriage, and his family as they navigate the highs and lows of pursuing musical stardom against insurmountable struggle.
Laura Notarianni and Michael Rosenberg of Untitled Entertainment said they could not “be more excited to be working with a talent of such magnitude in Walker Hayes.” they noted that his “powerful story” is “inspirational, heartfelt, and harrowing.”
At press time, there was no word on what actors will be in the series. The role of Haynes has not been cast yet.
