Tim McGraw, Billy Ray Cyrus And More Tribute Charlie Daniels
Tim McGraw, Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox and Dustin Lynch all paid tribute to Country Music Hall of fame member Charlie Daniels who died this morning (7/6) near Nashville at age 83 of a stroke.
Tim McGraw, posted a video of Daniels playing one of McGraw’s favorite songs. He wrote on Instagram, “Oh man, sad to hear about #CharlieDaniels passing…I grew up on his music… brilliant songs and smokin’ records. And always, without fail, every time I had the pleasure of being around him, he was one of most genuine, kind and thoughtful folks I’ve ever run across. The word ‘legend’ gets tossed around so easily these days, but not in this case… he was #BeyondLegendary. This is one of my absolute favorites… ‘The Legend of Wooly Swamp’ @thecharliedanielsband.”
Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox wrote, “My heart is shattered with the passing of Charlie Daniels. He was one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever met. His love for God, country, military and music were unprecedented! He will be so missed! #Ripmyfriend.”

Billy Ray Cyrus also posted on Instagram about the loss of his friend, saying, “This #Legend Charlie Daniels was at the core of my roots and influences in music. We recorded ‘Just As I Am’ together for his Grammy-winning Gospel Album. ‘Oh lamb of God I come… I come’ sings the hymn. An honor to call him my friend. Fiddle is gonna be roaring in heaven tonight! #RIP.”

Dustin Lynch posted along with a picture of he and Charlie backstage at the Opry, “Blowing the speakers out today with this legends tunes. An honor to share many nights @opry with you CD and forever grateful. You will be missed!”
Brantley Gilbert wrote, “The world lost a true legend today…. Your boots won’t ever be filled, but your legacy will live on forever…. thank you.”
And Chris Janson posted to Instagram, “A true Country Gentleman. Gonna miss him big time. Won’t ever forget the last phone call I got from him. No doubt he’s in heaven today. May God Bless my fellow @Opry member, Charlie Daniels.”
Charlie remained very active in music and before his passing today had rescheduled his Volunteer Jam concert postponed because of the coronavirus to February 2021.
