Blake Shelton’s New Song ‘Texas’ Is ‘Different’
Blake Shelton is set to release his new single, “Texas,” on Friday (11/15). The new song is what his new record label home BBR calls “fresh and addictive” capturing the classic theme of lost love with a twist, and nod to George Strait.
Blake says, “The thing that struck me about ‘Texas’ immediately was how different it sounded for me, and I’m always looking to push myself. I think there’s something really special about this record, and it feels important to me.”
He added, “There’s something really special about this record, and it feels important to me. This is the perfect opportunity to come back with something so different, and it easily felt like it should be the first single. It’s connected with what I’ve done but moves forward at the same time, and it’s the perfect start to the next chapter of my career.”
The song finds a man left in the dust by a free-spirited woman who has no clue where she has gone but speculates that she’s probably in Texas.
Written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr, and Lalo Guzman, “Texas” is Shelton’s debut for BBR Music Group Nashville and Wheelhouse Records. The song is produced by his longtime producer, Scott Hendricks.
With 29 Number One singles, the country superstar recently topped the charts with Post Malone and the smash hit “Pour Me A Drink.”
On November 20, Shelton will take “Texas” to the stage of Jimmy Kimmel Live for an interview and outdoor stage performance of the song.

Meanwhile, the singer has a new TV project: he’s teaming up with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheraton, as well as Lee Metzger and David Glasser, for a new singing competition, which is tentatively called The Road and will air in the fall of 2025 on CBS.
Blake said in a statement, “I’m a big fan of Taylor’s incredible work, and I’m excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on The Road.”
He added, “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”
The new docu-series will follow an established superstar “on their journey to discover the next big artist.” According to a press release: “Singers will join the headliner on tour, performing as opening acts in venues across the country. They will compete to win over local fanbases to secure a spot in the next city and remain on the tour.”
