Will Tom Brady Succeed As Part Owner Of The Las Vegas Raiders?
Will Tom Brady succeed as part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders? Or will this end up being a disaster?
Tom Brady was officially welcomed as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders last week and many people are excited about it. It’s great to have the player who is arguably the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) in your building. He can share his insights and more to help turn around the franchise. However, there are some potential negatives and it could end up going horribly. How do you expect it to go? Will it be a success? Or will it tarnish his legacy?
How Will Tom Brady Be As Minority Owner Of The Las Vegas Raiders?
Tom Brady was officially approved by NFL ownership as a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady and his partner now hold a 10% stake in the Raiders with Brady’s personal share being a 5% stake. There are some rules he’s going to have to follow, however, as he is also a broadcaster for Fox. According to Sporting News, those rules include: he’s not permitted to be in another team’s facility, not permitted to witness practice, not permitted to attend broadcast production meetings (in-person or virtually), prohibited from publicly criticizing game officials and other teams, subject to the league’s gambling policy, and subject to the league’s anti-tampering policies. Those are a lot of rules!
They should be pretty easy for Brady to follow as an owner, but we the people will be affected by this move. He’s not allowed to do what other broadcasters are able to do. Which means he won’t be as prepared or as in the loop as he could be. But let’s be honest. We’re not listening to Tom Brady for all of that. He’s Tom Brady. He doesn’t need all that prep. Just tell us what you know. So, that could be an issue there. However, all the issues are not related to his ownership and broadcasting.
How will General Manager Tom Telesco feel about things moving forward? These guys all want to be as involved as possible and want all the praise when things go right. Will Telesco get that for the team he builds or will Brady end up with the credit? The Raiders are going to have to select a quarterback in the coming draft and who will have final say? The greatest to ever play the position or the guy hired to make that decision? It could cause some drama in the building. Especially given Tom’s already established relationship with Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, who’s expected to be the first quarterback off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. The pair have trained together and Tom Brady has mentored him a bit. Could this cause any issues? You never know, but with the fragile egos in NFL offices, you know problems are sure to come up.
What do you think? Will Tom Brady work as a minority owner or will this end up with some problems?
