Best Day Trips From Las Vegas: Explore Beyond The Strip (Family and Non Family Friendly)
Some of the best day trips from Las Vegas are simply jaw-dropping attractions. From natural wonders to hidden gems, there are so many things to do that are beyond The Strip.
Family Friendly Day Trips From Las Vegas
Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful and quick drive from the Las Vegas Strip. Now, it’s the perfect season to go due to the weather finally cooling off. You do need to have reservations for the park starting Oct. 1 to May 30. There are also fees for the park depending on the size of your vehicle.
There are a few different trails at Red Rock that you can explore. And there are also fun events like painting and sunrise hikes. This is a perfect way to entertain the family, and it’s not too expensive.
Another great place to explore is the Grand Canyon Skywalk. This is the perfect day trip from The Strip. It’s about 2.5 hours from Las Vegas, so you can rent a car and take a little ride down the scenic roads toward the Grand Canyon. The Sky Walk is located on the West Rim of the Grand Canyon.
The admission cost varies depending on when you visit the Sky Walk. We definitely recommend visiting then it’s much cooler out. According to the Grand Canyon’s website, general admission to the Grand Canyon West is about $45 per person. Then you can add the Skywalk admission ticket for $23.
Seven Magic Mountains is another fun day trip. The best part? It’s free if you have a car. This is an art installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. It’s a kooky and fun thing to see because it’s a colorful installation in the middle of the neutral-colored desert. If you see this art piece during sunrise and sunset then it’s even more beautiful.
The address is S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89054. But it’s a little off the beaten path. But, there are many signs and markers that lead you directly to Seven Magic Mountains.
The next attraction is the Hoover Dam. It’s about 35 minutes from Vegas, and it’s an awe-inspiring structure. You can go kayaking, rafting and walk across the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.
You can also go visit Boulder City during this excursion, or you can check our the famous Lake Mead. These are two other awesome day trips from Vegas — which brings us to a total of sixawesome day trips from Las Vegas.
For all of these day trips, you need to ensure that you have reliable transportation secured. Uber and Lyft could possibly take you to any of these destinations. However, it will be hard to find transportation leaving these day trips. Red Rock Canyon is the only option that will be easy to get a rideshare transportation option because it’s not too far from The Strip.
The best way to ensure reliable transportation is by booking through the tour company or renting a car. You can also schedule rides through Uber and Lyft, but we really don’t recommend this because it can be inconsistent — especially if you’re more than 30 miles away from Vegas.

Now Time For Non-Family Friendly Day Trips From Las Vegas
If you’re looking for something less family-friendly then we have an interesting option for you. Note: we don’t mean to offend ANYONE by mentioning this facility.
Now we are not condoning this business. But it is an interesting part of Nevada’s history, and it’s undoubtedly a tourist attraction.
Sheri’s Ranch is a legal brothel in Pahrump. There’s also a sports bar and restaurant! It’s one of those places that you “should visit once” in your adult life. You don’t have to partake in the services. But, the site is historical and unusual. Where else can you find this in America?
