Carly Pearce: Dolly Parton’s ‘Harmony Is So Perfect’
Early this year, Carly Pearce had a career-defining moment when, for the very first time, she sang live with Dolly Parton.
The one-time Dollywood employee talked about the surreal moment in a recent interview. Carly said, “Yeah, it was my first time to sing with her. What impressed me at rehearsal is how sharp she is. We went back & forth on what we were going to sing. Her harmony is so perfect.”
The event Pearce sang with Parton at was the country icon’s special on NBC, where she featured a bunch of dogs and dressed them up in her own pet clothing line, which donates to dog charities.
Carly talked about how the moment came about on the event’s red carpet. She said, “I was asked to be on with my dogs, and I said yes, and what I thought was going to be a performance of just me and it ended up becoming a performance with Dolly.”
The performance, Pearce noted, was one of the “greatest honors I could have.”
She said of Parton, “I think she is a quadruple threat; she’s an amazing singer, an amazing songwriter, and an amazing businesswoman. But she remains so humble and has this heart that feels like your best friend.”

The country star was recently taken aback by a budding young singer on stage while opening one of Tim McGraw’s “Standing Room Only Tour” shows in Seattle in April. She didn’t know how good she would be when she brought the fan up to sing.
Carly posted a video clip of the impromptu moment when she asked a fan on stage to sing her GRAMMY-winning duet “Never Wanted To Be That Girl.” The young girl hit the stage and didn’t miss a beat, singing the song along with the county star as Pearce showed how impressed she was with her facial expressions.
She captioned the post on Instagram, “Y’all meet Sydney. Tonight at the show in Seattle, she had a sign that said, ‘Can I sing Never Wanted To Be That Girl with you?’ I didn’t see it until the end of my set, and on a whim asked her if she knew the words to What He Didn’t Do… then this happened. Hey Sydney, you reminded me tonight of what dreams are made of. (And also, look at her go!!!!!!!!”
