If you have teenagers looking for a summer job, the City of Las Vegas is hiring lifeguards now. In fact, there is a lifeguard shortage at the city’s municipal pools.

City Of Las Vegas Is Hiring Lifeguards: Here’s What You Need To Know

If you, your teenager, or a young adult are looking for a cool summer job, the City of Las Vegas wants you. But you had better be a competent swimmer because there is a physical test involved. There’s also an in-person interview.

According to the City of Las Vegas Human Resources website, the lifeguard position pays $15 dollars per hour. This will be a part-time job, paid by the hour. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. You’ll be working 19 hours per week at the most and your shifts will vary.

If you’re interested, you can fill out an application by clicking here. If accepted, your duties may include safeguarding the pool and its patrons. You may need to administer first aid. Enforce the pool rules and caution patrons about unsafe practices or activities which may cause accidents.

In addition, you may also be required to set up and tear down pool equipment. You’ll help maintain the cleanliness of the pool area. Of course, you’ll have to provide any necessary information to the pool’s patrons. Moreover, there may be some coaching involved.

City Of Las Vegas Is Hiring Lifeguards: You’ll Need To Pass A Physical Test

It’s important to note that you’ll be required to obtain a personal American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to get it before you begin working.

You’ll also have only one opportunity to pass a swimming test and drill. You’ll be timed on these physical drills, which include swimming, treading water, submerging to a depth of 13 feet to retrieve a dummy or brick, and exiting the pool without using the ladder.
