This is not the first time Ballerini has worked with the singing competition. The “Blindsided” singer was previously the first-ever coach of the comeback stage, a battle advisor, and even filled in for Kelly Clarkson during season 20 of The Voice.
“Okay. It’s official. I’m so so so beyond excited to be joining The Voice next year, y’all. Let’s go Team Kelsea,” Ballerini said in a video posted on The Voice Instagram page.
Ballerini’s boyfriend, Outer Banks actor, Chase Stokes, commented on the post saying, “I’ll be a very consistent vote on one of these teams.”
The 30-year-old and newest judge set for season 27 of The Voice, follows in the footsteps of fellow country singers including Blake Shelton, Dan + Shay, and Reba McEntire, as well as Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Usher, Nick Jonas, and more.
Most recently, Ballerini hit the stage at the 2024 ACM Awards for a performance mashup of “Mountain With A View” and “Stick Season” with Noah Kahan saying it was one of her favorite award show performances she’s ever been a part of. While she wasn’t the night’s big winner, she obviously had a blast, writing on social media, “@noahkahanmusic…what a VIBE TO BE ABLE SING WITH YOU YOURE SO LOVELY. momma you were the prettiest date on the carpet, @alysavanderheym did we just win the award for how many times we can lose in the same category?” Alysa Vanderheym is her frequent songwriting partner.
Ballerini will take on Nashville this week as she’s scheduled to perform during CMA Fest as part of the nightly lineup at Nissan Stadium on Friday, June 7. She also currently has tour dates scheduled this summer in Durant, Oklahoma, Austin, Texas, and Newton, Iowa.
Fans of Ballerini are eagerly awaiting the announcement of her next album which will follow the smashing success of her 2023 EP, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat. She delivered the extended version of the EP, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat (For Good), last summer.
