Tallest Resort In Las Vegas Could Come To Northern Strip
Up, in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… nothing right now. But soon the tallest resort in Las Vegas could be built just north of Fontainebleau Las Vegas on the former Wet’n’Wild land.
Yeah, we’ve heard this one before.
The Former Site Of The Much Maligned All Net Arena
The property nestled between the current tallest resort in Las Vegas and the Sahara Las Vegas has been tied up in an imaginary project called the All Net Arena. That $5 billon proposed project promised an NBA-ready arena, hotel towers and more amenities. Only one problem: the project never developed. Promise after promise came and went, and nothing came of UNLV alum Jackie Robinson’s pipe dream.
Last year, the All Net Arena project was officially put on ice by the county. But don’t fret, this new project will be different! Right?
Proposed Tallest Resort In Las Vegas Will Feature Arena
LVXP is a real estate development company in the valley and is behind the proposed project. The company is joined by the head of construction at the Sphere, Nick Tomasino, and Paul Steelman who has worked with everyone from Resorts World to MGM Resorts, Station Casinos to Las Vegas Sands and many more. He’s behind the architecture of Circa. Very impressive!
Their plan is a massive 2,500 room resort that may loom slightly larger than the Stratosphere’s needle, and a large NBA-ready arena with potentially more seats than T-Mobile Arena.
Wait, what? An NBA-ready arena?! Is this All Net Arena all over again? The developers say no.
The one thing that none in the group have had direct experience is with professional sports. This puts their plan at odds with the Oak View Group’s planned arena and entertainment destination at Las Vegas Boulevard and Blue Diamond.
Oak View Group has had success “building it and they will come,” building several arenas and stadiums including the Climate Pledge Arena which houses the Seattle Kraken.
Will not having experience working with sports leagues put the new project at a disadvantage? Do they have the connects with LeBron or Shaq to make something happen? Is building a major luxury resort next to two underperforming luxury resorts a wise decision? Only time will tell.
One thing is for certain: the locals want Wet’n’Wild back.
