McDonald's is upping their menu with some sweet treats. Krispy Kreme doughnuts will soon be offered at the fast-food chain nationwide. The treats will be offered throughout the day, with three of the dessert chain's most popular flavors available to buy solo or for a half dozen.  A bonus is that they will be delivered fresh every morning.

According to the news release, original glazed, chocolate iced with sprinkles, and a cream-filled doughnut iced with chocolate will be on the menu, along with McDonald's signature desserts, like soft serve ice cream.

"Fans will begin spotting Krispy Kreme doughnuts in their local McDonald's restaurants later this year as part of a phased market rollout across the country," the company said. They added that nationwide availability at participating restaurants is expected by the end of 2026. This follows a "successful test" at 160 McDonald's restaurants in the Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky areas. These pilot restaurants will continue to serve Krispy Kreme doughnuts during the nationwide rollout.

"Since the launch of breakfast nearly 50 years ago, we've continued to offer new menu items, flavors, and experiences that have made McDonald's an irreplaceable part of fans' morning routines," said Tariq Hassan, McDonald's USA's Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer. "This partnership is an exciting next step in that journey and a chance to unlock new business opportunities in the breakfast category and throughout the day. Our fans’ love for Krispy Kreme runs deep, and we can't wait to make it even easier for them to satisfy their sweet tooth at McDonald's restaurants across the country."

Reactions to McDonald's and Krispy Kreme Partnership

The Washington Post reported that the partnership announcement increased stock shares. "The announcement propelled Krispy Kreme stocks upward by almost 40 percent from the previous day to $17.35 per share by the end of trading Tuesday," they said. That marked the highest share price since January 2022. McDonald's shares stayed flat at around $278 per share.

Krispy Kreme took to social media to share their partnership with followers. "We're lovin' our sweetest new partnership with @McDonalds, rolling out later this year thru 2026!" they wrote. One person commented their excitement about the partnership, "This is the best news ever!!!" Another person wrote, "Two of my favorite chains partnering together." Someone said, "Bless. Now I wouldn't have to go to a completely separate store." Interestingly someone suggested a new menu item, "mcgriddle but instead of pancake it’s donuts."

To celebrate the McDonald's and Krispy Kreme partnership, the doughnut shop gave one free donut to guests on March 26. Who knows maybe they’ll have more freebies to snag as they roll out the collab nationwide.
