Blake Shelton Does Not Miss ‘The Voice’
Blake Shelton appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show today (11/17) and talked about a number of topics. Among them: the fact that he does not miss being on NBC’s The Voice.
Blake told Jennifer when she asked about him missing the show, “Not yet. I did that for 23 seasons.” Shelton went on to say that he wasn’t even planning on “being there that long.”
Shelton said, “I was planning on wrapping it up around 20 seasons or 21 seasons, and then COVID hit, and then I didn’t want to walk out on the show in the middle of COVID, and them trying to scramble and figure out what to do. So I stayed.” He joked that he “didn’t have anything else to do” anyway, so he stayed longer than he planned.
Blake also said he got his red chair, noting, “It was the one thing I wanted besides a bunch of money.” He said the chair resides in his and his wife Gwen Stefani’s home in Oklahoma.

Hudson flashed some images of Stefani and her many fashion choices as a fashion icon and asked Blake jokingly if he helped her pick out her fashion. Shelton laughed and quipped, “What are you talking about? You know I don’t help her. Of course not.” He did say that he does help her with fashion when she comes to Oklahoma and helps her be prepared for what to wear in his home state.
Jennifer showed a photo of the couple dressing in camo, and said, “Did you help her with this look?” Blake says, “See, she probably wasn’t prepared, and she had to put on a bunch of my crap.”
Talking about holiday traditions, Shelton said that Gwen and her boys really “get into the holidays.” He said one tradition they have is making “these weird turkeys” like a “Flaming Hot Cheetos turkey,” where they grind up Cheetos, put it on the turkey, and then bake it.
When asked if he could cook, Blake said he was “limited,” but he is a good frier, saying, “I fry stuff.” He then looked off-stage and gestured to the show’s producers off-camera. He joked, “I’m telling your producers right now, they are laughing, I’m a damn good frier, you can kiss my a–.”
