This is precisely what ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith managed to do recently. He shared a list of places that women apparently refuse to go on a first date, and it’s causing quite the stir on social media.

The Comprehensive No-Go List Includes Cheesecake Factory

Smith’s tweet was inspired by a group of women who compiled a rather comprehensive list of 28 places where they’d rather not go on a first date. A significant chunk of the list includes familiar chain restaurants like Cheesecake Factory, Chili’s, and Applebee’s, along with popular spots like Chipotle, Olive Garden, and Starbucks. Even a breakfast at Denny’s or IHOP didn’t make the cut.

The list’s thoroughness extends beyond eateries. Going to the movies, watching Netflix at home, or heading to the guy’s house is out of the question. Moreover, women don’t seem too keen on spending a first date in church, at the gym, a sporting event, or a family function.

Ladies aren’t interested in ice cream or coffee dates either. Bowling, nightclubs, hookah bars, plain old drink bars, and places requiring a long drive also find themselves on the “avoid” list.

Laughing At It Or Finding Inspiration

Responses to this list have been diverse. Some find humor in the fact that it seems to rule out almost everything. The burning question for these folks is what, then, constitutes an acceptable first date?

Others, however, believe this list serves as a creative launchpad, pushing daters to think outside the box. By steering clear of the mundane, it encourages people to create memorable, engaging experiences that go beyond the standard first-date clichés.
