Frito Lay has introduced a scholarship program to support students dedicated to enhancing and leading their communities. The Frito-Lay Community Builders Scholarship will provide $25,000 to each of the four selected students. Their goal is to assist them in pursuing their higher education aspirations. Applications are available on October 3, and students should apply before the November 20 deadline.

Recognizing students from various backgrounds.

This scholarship represents an opportunity to recognize students from various backgrounds who actively contribute to their communities. While also providing financial relief for their higher education expenses. Alongside meeting the application prerequisites, students must respond to a prompt that discusses their community involvement and its impact on their academic journey. Demonstrating their leadership skills, extracurricular involvement, work experience, and personal and professional objectives is encouraged.

"At Frito-Lay, we are committed to celebrating and supporting the next generation of community leaders by providing them with resources to help build a brighter future," said Joan Cetera, vice president of corporate affairs at PepsiCo. "As these young leaders take the reins, we see a path towards a future where communities are more resilient, where diversity and inclusion are celebrated, and where every individual has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential."

Eligibility requirements for the scholarship program.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must meet specific criteria. They must reside in the United States and be either high school seniors, graduates, or current college undergraduates. Additionally, they must plan to attend full-time undergraduate programs at accredited colleges, universities, or vocational-technical schools for the entire upcoming academic year and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or its equivalent.

A diverse panel of Frito-Lay employees, including frontline workers, leaders of employee resource groups, and executives, will serve as the judging committee to assess submitted applications. All applicants will be informed of their award status by January 30, 2024.
