Date Set For Marshawn Lynch DUI Trial In Las Vegas
Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch, known for his powerful presence on the field, is now gearing up for a legal battle off the field. Lynch, who is facing DUI charges in Las Vegas, is set to go to trial in November.
Lynch entered a plea of not guilty in March, contesting misdemeanor charges of DUI, driving outside of travel lanes, and operating an unregistered vehicle, as documented in court records. In a recent court hearing, which Lynch did not attend, his legal team indicated that they anticipate the trial will span two days.
The Date Has Been Set For Marshawn Lynch Trial
Municipal Judge Cedric Kerns has marked the trial to commence on November 8.
The incident leading to the charges occurred in August 2022. That’s when police found Lynch asleep at the wheel of his vehicle. Police say they detected the smell of alcohol. The vehicle was discovered in a position suggesting it had been driven onto a sidewalk, with noticeable damage to its tire rims. However, according to a News 3 article, the keys were on Lynch himself and not the ignition.
Lynch’s defense team has consistently maintained that the available evidence fails to conclusively establish that Lynch was driving under the influence at the time of his arrest.
As recounted in an arrest report, Lynch appeared to be dozing off during interactions with officers at a traffic stop near Fairfield and Utah avenues. Body camera footage captured him barely responsive to police inquiries. Lynch reportedly exhibited uncooperative behavior, refusing field sobriety tests, which officers were unable to administer.
Subsequently, officers obtained a search warrant to extract Lynch’s blood for testing purposes, according to details outlined in the arrest report.
