You know how they say dogs are supposed to be "man's best friend"? Well, it turns out they might be even closer pals with the ladies.

Two recent studies dug into the depths of doggie psychology and found something intriguing: Dogs are more likely to heed the words of women. And you won't believe the reason -- it's got something to do with baby talk. Yes, you heard that right, baby talk.

According to researchers at Washington State University, this connection between women and canines is no small thing. They found that women have a "special relationship" with dogs that holds a "greater impact on the dog-human bond than relationships with men." It's like a canine sisterhood!

So, how did they figure all this out? Well, the researchers took a deep dive into the past, analyzing studies from 144 ancient communities across the globe where dogs were part of human lives. The findings were fascinating.

Back in the earliest days of human settlements, where dogs were embraced by our ancestors, it was the women who really called the shots in the dog-human relationship. They were the ones giving those furry pals names, letting them curl up indoors, and even mourning their passing. While men might have seen dogs as trusty hunting companions, it was the women who showered them with love, compassion, and a cozy spot by the hearth.

The researchers behind another furry investigation had quite the method up their sleeves. They put dogs under the brain-scanning microscope while they played snippets of people talking to dogs, babies, and other grown-ups. Quite the mix, right?

What they found was both curious and kinda cute. The pooches' brain activity skyrocketed when they heard speech tailored for dogs and, wait for it, babies. And, to top it off, when the talker was a woman, the dogs were practically all ears. Or all brainwaves -- to be precise.

So, the bond between women and pups isn't just a modern phenomenon. It goes way back etched into the footprints of history. And while the studies have shown that they have a soft spot for high-pitched baby talk, it seems they've always had an even softer spot for the women who've been their companions throughout time.
