Dolly Parton’s New ‘Champions’ Video Will Promote 2024 Olympics
Dolly Parton is collaborating with NBC on the video for her cover of Queen’s “We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You.” It will be used to promote NBCU’s coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 which begin in August 2024.
“We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You” is from her upcoming album Rockstar. The album was inspired by her 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The album is set for global release on November 17.
Dolly aligned with NBCU to produce an Olympic-themed video to promote next year’s Games in Paris. The music icon said in a statement, “I love the Olympics! I do my best to plan my schedule to watch as much of it as I possibly can.”
She added, “I tape it just in case I miss the live action on a certain day and watch it back as soon as possible. I laugh, I cry, I scream, there are no losers in the Olympics as they have all spent a lifetime preparing, but I celebrate with the ones that go away with the gold, silver, and bronze medals.”
The video begins with Parton singing in an empty stadium. Then we see Olympic footage, including Opening and Closing Ceremonies from the past. It also shows iconic highlights, and athletes enduring adversity, demonstrating perseverance, and becoming champions. Olympians and teams featured in the video include Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Noah Lyles, and Katie Ledecky. It also shows the women’s soccer team, men’s and women’s basketball teams, and many international athletes.
The video also features Parton performing in front of a sparkling Eiffel Tower. It concludes with her surrounded by fans in a packed stadium, all singing “We Are The Champions” until it crescendos and transitions into “We Will Rock You.”

Dolly broke new ground last month (June) as her latest single from her upcoming Rockstar album “Bygones” featuring Rob Halford with special guests Nikki Sixx and John 5 debuted atop the Mediabase Classic Rock Songs chart.
With #1s throughout her 7-decade career across Country, Pop, AC, Dance, Christian, Bluegrass, Folk/Americana, Holiday, and now Rock, Parton continues to make history.
Parton said, “I am so excited to see the response ‘Bygones’ is receiving! To debut at #1 on the Rock charts is such a thrill for me, and it makes it even sweeter to share this with Rob, Nikki, and John 5.”
“Bygones” follows the lead single from Rockstar, “World On Fire” that became the album’s first #1 when it peaked atop Billboard’s Rock Digital Song Sales chart in May.
