Dolly Parton Will Sing A New Rock Song On ACM Awards
Dolly Parton will be co-hosting the upcoming ACM Awards on May 11 on Prime Video, and she revealed on Good Morning America this week that she will be singing a song from her forthcoming rock album on the awards show.
Dolly said of the song she will perform, “It’s kind of fitting to the times; it’s called ‘World on Fire.’ ‘Liar, liar, the world’s on fire; whatcha gonna do when it all burns down.’ So, it’s really kind of about the times and how we can do a little better if we try–to try to heal the divide and just get along a little better.”
She added, “And so, it’s really got a great message to it, but it’s also good and solid–kind of like a rock anthem.”
Parton also said of her co-host Garth Brooks, “I love Garth, we’ve known each other for many years, and we’ve been backstage on shows together. But he’s never hosted a show. I’ve been hosting shows off and off through the years. But this was a big deal for me to get to work with Garth, so we’re looking forward to that. Everybody’s been talking about it, so hopefully, we’ll measure up. And I think we will.”

Parton recently announced the release of a new book she wrote with her niece Rebecca Seiver and writer Holly George-Warren. The book, Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones focuses on Dolly’s fashion through the years. It will be released on October 17, 2023.
Dolly said in a statement, “I am happy, proud, and excited to present my book ‘Behind the Seams’ to the public. It is my hope that you will enjoy a look at my life in costume and hair and get to know some of the great people who have helped shape my life and my look. Enjoy!”
The book will feature behind-the-scenes stories from Parton’s life and career and the largest reveal of her private costume archive. The photograph book spotlights her most iconic looks from the 1960s to now. The sky-high heels, famous wigs, bold makeup, eye-catching stage clothes—she shares them all.
Along the way, Parton discusses memorable outfits from her past. She includes the clothes her mother would sew out of feed sacks. She also writes about the bold dresses and hairdos that shook up Nashville. And, yes, the bunny suit on the cover of Playboy.
