New Study Reveals Shocking Amount of Time Spent on Attractiveness
According to a new study, the average person spends nearly four hours a day trying to improve their appearance. That’s almost a sixth of our lives or a quarter of our waking hours. The study, which polled over 93,000 people in 93 countries, factored in every aspect of grooming, including makeup and cosmetics, hair grooming, hygiene, clothing, diet, and exercise.
Interestingly, men and women spend almost the same amount of time on their appearance, with women dedicating just under four hours and men just over three-and-a-half hours per day. The study found that people who spend more than four hours on their appearance have one thing in common – they are more into social media.
The pressure to look good is no longer limited to celebrities and models. In today’s society, where social media platforms are dominated by picture-perfect posts, people are constantly comparing themselves to others, and the pressure to look good has never been greater. However, the study’s authors caution that while taking care of oneself is important, spending an excessive amount of time on appearance may indicate deeper issues related to self-esteem and body image.
The study highlights the amount of time people are spending on their appearance and the potential impact it may have on their mental health. While taking care of oneself is essential, it’s crucial to strike a balance and ensure that our appearance doesn’t consume an excessive amount of our time and mental energy.
