Reba Looked To These Movie Legends To Play A Proper Villian
Reba plays a villain on ABC TV’s Big Sky (which premieres on Wednesday night), and she and her boyfriend play a killing kind of couple in the show’s new season.
Reba appeared on Good Morning America this morning (9/20), and George Stephanopoulos said, “It is hard for me to imagine you as a villain. Where do you draw your inspiration?” Reba replied, “Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, those kinds of movies. As a matter of fact, the other day, when we did one scene, I looked over at my boyfriend, who plays my husband on the show Rex Linn, and I said, ‘Was that Bette Davis or what?’ and he said, (putting thumbs up) ‘Pretty good.'”
She was then asked what it was like working with her boyfriend, Rex. Reba said, “Oh, we have a blast. We’ve been working together since ’91, we were on the Gamber movie with Kenny Rogers in 1991, and then we did a movie for Lifetime this summer in Canada, it’s called “The.” We were kinda like love interests, and now we get to play husband and wife, Buck and Sunny. It was just so much fun.
She added, “He makes me rehearse so much that by the time we get on the set, I know my lines, your lines, and your lines. But it’s fun. I love it.”
Michael Strahan then reminded Reba that two years ago, she told him everyone was on board to do a Reba sitcom reboot. Today, he asked if she close to making that happen. She said, “Unfortunately not. We were getting really close, but nope, we’re not gonna be able to do it right now. But we’ll keep trying to see if we can get in there somewhere.” Michael quipped, “Well, just keep playing that villain!” She laughed, offering, “Reba can come back as a villain in the show that will turn it around.”
Reba’s role on Big Sky premieres on ABC on Wednesday, September 21 at 10 PM ET.
Reba posted a photo from the show on Instagram yesterday (9/19), commenting, “Walking into Monday like… #BigSky: Deadly Trails premieres Wednesday at 10/9c on ABC!.”
Country singer Terri Clark responded, “Can’t wait !!” One fan wrote, “I can’t wait to watch it. I’m excited I love you, Reba.”
