Chris Janson: No, He Is Not DM-ing You On Facebook
Chris Janson is one of the most distinctive voices and personalities in country music, but someone is trying to get away with imitating him. Not artistically, but on Facebook.
Janson’s team posted to his Facebook page: “Attention: Please DO not talk to anyone on here posing as Chris Janson. You will NOT get a DM from Chris, his team or anyone on Facebook. People are scamming, sending fake messages. Report & block immediately.”
It’s worth mentioning that artists (and their teams) very rarely reach out to fans on social media. If you get a DM that appears to be from an artist (or even an artist’s management team) you’d be wise to be suspicious about it. USA Today has an article about imposters on social media: check it out here.

Brian has been working in pop culture and media for about three decades: he’s worked at MTV, VH1, SiriusXM, CBS and Loudwire. Besides working as a writer and an editor-in-chief, he’s also appeared on air as a pundit, guested on radio shows and hosted podcasts. Over the years, he’s interviewed the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, the members of U2, Beyonce, Pink, Usher, Stevie Nicks, Lorde… and is grateful to have had the chance to interview Joe Strummer of the Clash and Tom Petty.
